Leadership in Action at the Mid-Year Chapter Conference

The 2026 Mid-Year Chapter Leadership Conference occurred May 5-6 at the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) headquarters in Richardson, Texas. The conference brings chapter leaders together from around the United States to share successes and challenges to aid in the success of AFSA chapters.

Chapter leaders had the opportunity to gain insight into the basics of chapter operations, AFSA seminars, and AFSA resources. Although the classroom setting has its benefits, one of the biggest resources chapter leaders have is each other. The leadership conference included an evening social event for leaders to network while playing pickleball. We have some athletes at AFSA!

In addition to reviewing chapter operations, AFSA received great insight into leaders finding their lane and “Driving with Purpose” from guest speaker Bruce Waller, CRP, PHR, SHRM-CP, award-winning author/podcast host, and vice president of Corporate Relocation.

AFSA hosts two Chapter Leadership Conferences a year! The Mid-Year is typically held in May, and the other is held in conjunction with AFSA’s annual convention. It’s a great way for chapter leaders to tap into the resources AFSA has to offer.

“We appreciate all of the AFSA chapter leaders for your dedication, time, and effort you give to ensure that your chapters are successful,” comments AFSA Vice President of Membership and Chapter Development Meda Merritt, CMP. “Their time, talent, and treasure are immeasurable!”
